3. Alshon Jeffery

Last week, Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery played in his first game of 2018 as he returned from offseason shoulder surgery. While many people thought that Jeffery may be limited in his return, he was just the opposite. He hauled in eight receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Jeffery was by far the Eagles most consistent and dangerous receiver on the day. His touchdown grab in the third quarter against the Titans showed exactly what he brings to this Eagles lineup. He was playing against tight man-to-man coverage in the end zone. He was able to fight off the defensive back and catch the pass in almost a jump-ball situation.

That type of play is exactly what the Eagles offense was missing. In the absence of Jeffery the Eagles had good performances out of Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz, but it was clear they were missing a big threat. Jeffery adds that element to the Eagles offense.

This week he’ll be facing a Minnesota defense that was absolutely torched last week against the Rams. The Rams had three receivers go for more than 100 yards in that game. Jeffery should be able to feast on this secondary the same way the Rams receivers did.

Now that Jeffery appears to be the healthiest he’s been since he joined the Eagles last season, expect to see him put up even bigger numbers. This week, the Eagles offense will depend big-time on their No. 1 receiver.
