4. Chris Thompson will have a big game

Chris Thompson was in the midst of a Pro Bowl-type season for the Redskins in 2017. Thompson was arguably the league’s top third-down back when Washington faced the Saints in a Week 11 battle last November. He got off to a fast start in that game, too, catching a 16-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins.

Then, everything changed. As Cousins’ scrambled to his left, Thompson was engaged in a block and the defender who tackled Cousins fell into the back of Thompson’s leg and all of a sudden Thompson’s season was over. Washington’s season was over, too. A broken fibula sidelined Thompson during the middle of his breakout season.

Now, Thompson is back and is having a strong start to his 2018 season. He was the best player on the field in the season-opening win at Arizona, but stepped aside and allowed Peterson to take over in Week 3. Against New Orleans, it will be Thompson’s show in his return to the place where his 2017 season ended.

Expect head coach Jay Gruden to line up Thompson in various places to create mismatches against linebackers and safeties. Thompson will get some carries in the running game, however, it is the passing game where he will make his mark. Thompson will finish the game with at least five receptions and over 100 yards from scrimmage.
