With a quarter of the NFL season already completed, which players have the early lead in the MVP race heading into the weekend?

The 2018 NFL season is like reading a storybook, with each week representing a chapter. After four weeks, you could say we’re four chapters into this year’s story. Some of the biggest events throughout the book have been shocking, while others have remained fairly predictable. At this point in the season we think we know a lot, but in all reality we know next to nothing.

For instance, through four weeks, there remains just two undefeated teams — the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs — with the Rams easily being the most convincing of the two. But who would have thought that Kansas City, currently the highest-scoring offense on a per game basis (36.2 points per game), would be in the position they’re currently in?

Or how about the Minnesota Vikings, who are off to a disappointing 1-2-1 start, with a pivotal matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles still to come this Sunday? Or the Miami Dolphins, who currently stand at 3-1? What about the Houston Texans, who stand at 1-3 after a narrow overtime victory against the 1-4 Indianapolis Colts?

The reality is that there’s 16 games for a reason, and four games doesn’t tell the whole story. It doesn’t take a genius to know that. But like in any other chapter book, it’s fun to look ahead, guessing what’s about to happen next with what little information we currently have.

So, based on the current landscape of the NFL, which players are the MVP front runners heading into Week 5? With only one quarter of the season gone, there’s still plenty of room for improvement. At the moment though, here are the current top 10 MVP favorites from NFL Spin Zone.
