The Green Bay Packers suffered another ugly loss, this time against an NFC North rival, the Detroit Lions. What were the big takeaways from a 31-23 loss in Motown?

It was another instance of a tale of two halves for the Green Bay Packers. After giving up 24 points in the first half, the Packers attempted another miraculous comeback that fell short. Everything that could have gone wrong did for the Packers in the first half. From missed field goals to botched punt returns and careless penalties, it was a very ugly day for the Green ‘n’ Gold.

Despite holding a seven-minute advantage in time of possession, gaining twice as many yards on offense, and converting 12 more first downs, the Packers only tallied 23 points. The offense was there, despite missing two of the top three receivers. It was the mistakes from the kicking game that ultimately cost the Packers a win.

Not even Aaron Rodgers can lead a comeback after being 24 points down at halftime. He may be superman sometimes, but the odds were too much today.

The Packers have now lost three in a row to the Lions. The last time that happened, the Majik Man, Don Majkowski, was quarterbacking in Green Bay. From December 1990 to December 1991, the Lions won three in a row. It finally happened again on Sunday.

It’s hard to be positive after a game like today. However, the Packers have an extra day off this week as they head home to play the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football without their superstar quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo.

After that, it’s a much-needed bye week before the tough part of the regular season begins. Before then, however, let’s take a look at the big takeaways for Green Bay from this game.
