New York Jets: 4 Standouts from Week 5 vs. Broncos
1. Isaiah Crowell
Two weeks ago, Crowell was wiping his rear-end with a football (and subsequently getting fined for the unsportsmanlike conduct). This week, he was letting his legs do the dancing and talking.
He ran over, around, and through the Denver Broncos this week. Not only did he not celebrate this week, but when letting his play speak for itself, he set records for the Jets offense. His 219 total rushing yards was a new Jets franchise record (tied for 50th all-time in the NFL).
Crowell also set an NFL record for most yards per carry (minimum 15 attempts). His 14.6 yards per carry surpassed Derrick Ward’s 14.3 yards per carry set back in 2008. He became the first player to average 14 yards per attempt (15 carry minimum) in a game in which he scored a touchdown. He even added a catch for 12 yards for good measure.
It was an all-around great day for Crowell, the best of his career, and it couldn’t come at a better time for the Jets. The Jets were reeling after three straight losses, and this could be the jump start they needed to get back on track. After that performance, though, there’s no doubt, it was the best of the day.
