Dallas Cowboys: 3 Big takeaways from loss vs. Texans in Week 5
By Randy Gurzi
The Dallas Cowboys faced the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in Week 5 of the 2018 NFL season. Here are three big takeaways from their loss in the in-state rivalry matchup.
The Dallas Cowboys headed to NRG Stadium in search of their third win against the Houston Texans. The in-state rivalry ended up being a hard-fought defensive battle that came down to the wire. Each team had a shot to win it in the end, but they needed extra time to solve this one as the score was knotted up at 16-16.
In the overtime, the Cowboys started with the ball and were on the move. They moved it 33 yards, but when they were at the Houston 42 and needing one yard, they elected to kick it away to the Texans. That was all she wrote as the defense that had played so well all night was beaten by DeAndre Hopkins, who went 49 yards to set up the game winner.
For Dallas, it continues what has been a ridiculously up and down season. They lost their first game on the road to the Carolina Panthers, followed by a home win over the New York Giants. They followed that with a road loss against the Seattle Seahawks and a home win last week over the Detroit Lions.
They’re back to their pattern now as they dropped another road game. Maybe they can get back to .500 as they’re home again next week against another AFC South team, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
As for the game today, we look now at three big takeaways from the upsetting defeat.
