Stock up

Marquez Valdes-Scantling Marquez Valdes-Scantling was thrust into action due to Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison‘s injuries at the receiver position. He took his opportunity and ran with it. As expected, there were a couple rookie mistakes where he was called for illegal motion and ran the wrong route, but Valdes-Scantling was clearly Green Bay’s second-best option at the receiver position.

He hauled in seven receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown, and easily could have scored another touchdown had he maneuvered his body differently on a goal line dive where he landed inside the one-yard line. Expect Valdes-Scantling to take on a larger role in the offense, even when Cobb and Allison return.

Davante Adams – Is it any surprise that Davante Adams continues to do what he does? In his first year as the bonafide No. 1 wide receiver for the Packers, he’s already racked up 37 receptions, 425 yards and four touchdowns in just five games.

Against the Lions on Sunday, he put up a stat line of nine catches for 140 yards and a touchdown, and was clearly Aaron Rodgers’ go-to receiver. Adams flashes big play potential on every snap with his technique at the line of scrimmage and run-after-the-catch ability.

David BakhtiariDavid Bakhtiari is quietly putting together another All-Pro-caliber season, and despite the rest of the offense’s struggles on Sunday, he was rock-solid holding down the left side. In the midst of it all, Bakhtiari had another clean game, effectively neutralizing Rodgers’ blind side the entire time.

There were multiple instances where Rodgers had plenty of time to throw, but Detroit’s coverage on the back end was too good, which ultimately led to four sacks. After all, it’s hard to block for more than three seconds, let alone five or six.
