Winner: Chris Jones

Chris Jones, as mentioned before, was a key component to the Chiefs lead in the first half on Sunday with his disruption of a simple screen pass that he took back for a touchdown. Following the interception, Jones proceeded to juke Blake Bortles on his way to the end zone.

Bortles was under pressure for the majority of the afternoon, having also surrendered a sack to Jones, which led to his four-interception outing. Both Jones and linebacker Dee Ford were ejected in the second half of the contest for separate altercations. This led to significantly less pressure on the Jaguars quarterback in the second half.

The defensive end has largely been inconsistent this season, often bringing highlight plays, but having those plays be largely overshadowed by disappearances in key moments of the game. Here’s to hoping that Jones can keep his efforts at a maximum against the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football in Week 6.

Loser: Steven Nelson

Coming into the season in a contract year, this was largely a make-or-break season for Steven Nelson. The cornerback has had a mixed career in Kansas City, having spent his early years working through injuries. Nelson has not been labeled as a shutdown corner, but he is often used in nickel situations as an outside corner.

This has given the team mixed results and Sunday was certainly not a bright spot for the young defensive back.

Nelson constantly got burned by inferior talents at wide receiver against the Jaguars. He was tasked primarily with stopping 2018 second-round wide receiver D.J. Chark, but got burned twice by the rookie for a total of 68 yards. The Chiefs need Nelson to step up quickly, otherwise he may lose playing time to more youthful and developmental options on the depth chart.
