After three straight head-scratching losses the New York Jets finally got a win, and a resounding one, over the Denver Broncos 34-16.

Coming into this game, things looked very bleak for the New York Jets. They were coming off a huge loss to the Jaguars, and terrible losses that should’ve been wins against the Dolphins and Browns.

However, the Jets turned things around for one week at least with a resounding victory over the Broncos. They ran over the Broncos to the tune of 8.5 yards per carry including Isaiah Crowell setting both a franchise record and NFL record in the process. He set the Jets franchise record for rushing yards in a game with 219, and his 14.6 yards per carry was a new NFL single-game record for ball carriers with at least 15 carries.

Robby Anderson finally had the game fans were wanting to see. He had three catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns were over 20 yards in the air.

Even though his completion percentage was low, Sam Darnold even had a good game, and he finally showed us that he’s willing to take shots down the field.

What are the biggest takeaways from this game, though? Let’s take a look.

3. Inspiration or Todd Bowles play calling?

The defense generated a pass rush, finally. They had four sacks and Leonard Williams was a part of three sacks with one solo and two assists. They also got a sack from Jeremiah Attaochu, and half-sack each from Marcus Maye and Jordan Jenkins.

The Jets will say they were inspired to play for their ailing defensive coordinator, but at least for one game, it seems like the play calling on defense was much better. It seems like the defensive scheme and play calling was better with Bowles calling the shots than Kacy Rodgers.

Should it stay that way for the rest of the season? Only time can answer that question.
