Even though the Seattle Seahawks fell short of defeating their division rivals in Week 5, the team played really well. These players stood out despite the loss.

At the end of the game, just two points separated the Los Angeles Rams from the Seattle Seahawks. Two measly points! With the victory the Rams advanced to 5-0 and the Seahawks dropped to 2-3.

Obviously the team would have preferred the win, but the Seahawks really showed some life and competitiveness on Sunday. The team showed that it can raise its game to compete with high ranking teams when it needs to. Now if only Seattle could play like this every week.

Even still, there were a bunch of players who came through for the Seahawks this week. It was actually hard to limit myself to selecting just three, but I feel like these players are the most worthy of recognition this week.

Tedric Thompson

Maybe there were defensive players who performed better than Thompson but I feel he deserves the honor of being on this list. Thompson has the hard job of filling in for Earl Thomas for the rest of the season. Thomas is a future Hall of Fame player, so you can imagine the pressure facing Thompson leading up the the game. On top of being a fantastic player, Thomas was averaging an interception per game going into Week 4 when he was injured.

So how did Thompson fill Thomas’ production? By grabbing an interception of his own. Thompson had the second of two interceptions recorded by the Seahawks defense against Jared Goff‘s offense. On top of the interception the second year safety recorded one pass defensed and seven total tackles, finishing tied for third on the team in that category.

Thompson, a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, will be tested a lot in the coming weeks. But for now, he should spend a little time enjoying the successes of his first career start.
