18. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals (23)

If he could ever stop throwing picks, Andy Dalton could be great. He’s got seven in five games — with only one game this season where he had none. He’s still got the Bengals at 4-1, so he’s doing enough.

17. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns (27)

The legend of Baker Mayfield is growing again. He shook off an early interception to lead the Cleveland Browns to a huge win over the favored Ravens in overtime. He led them down more than once for a potential game-winner, but one kick was missed and on another play, they gambled on fourth because they didn’t trust the kicker. This team looks much better with him starting.

16. Mitch Trubisky, Chicago Bears (20)

Mitch Trubisky threw six touchdown passes in Week 5, which showed us all why the Chicago Bears took him at No. 2 overall out of North Carolina. Now with a week off, he and head coach Matt Nagy can fine-tune a few things and look to be even better going forward.

15. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (16)

The Detroit Lions knocked off the Green Bay Packers and Matthew Stafford had a lot to do with that. Well, not as much as Mason Crosby had to do with it, but Stafford did his part regardless.

14. Alex Smith, Washington Redskins (14)

Alex Smith continues to play smart football, even if he isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire. He never seems to get the respect he deserves as he’s always in the top half of performers in terms of signal-callers year after year.

13. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (10)

So, the Baltimore Ravens are on the right side of one of the more lopsided officiated games in recent history and somehow Joe Flacco walked away complaining about the officiating? Maybe he should spend more time worrying about keeping his team from returning to their 2017 form.
