Jacksonville Jaguars: Injuries are forcing a patchwork offense
By Larry Brake
The Jacksonville Jaguars are playing with a patchwork offense due to key injuries.
This season was suppose to be the year that the Jacksonville Jaguars play in their first Super Bowl. Especially after coming so close last January in the AFC Championship Game. Key injuries have forced Jacksonville into a patchwork offense.
Perhaps the high expectations have dropped by some people but not everyone. The injured reserve list has grow and the injury report grows each week. Now the Jaguars are scrambling to retool the offense.
Cam Robinson was the first domino to fall in Week 1. Josh Wells replaced him at left tackle. Currently, Wells will not play in Dallas and the third team left tackle will play against a good Dallas defensive line. Leonard Fournette will not play again this Sunday. Corey Grant was placed on injured reserve list after a foot injury. Jacksonville was left with two healthy running backs.
Jamaal Charles joins the Jaguars this week. He will back up T.J. Yeldon, who is nursing a bum ankle. Brandon Wilds was released and Dave Williams was signed to replace him.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins was placed on the injured reserve list, but could come back in December. David Grinnage was promoted to the 53-man roster from off the practice squad. Sounds like a lot of injuries, but hold on.
Brandon Linder, Andrew Norwell and Jermey Parnell are battling through injuries, as well. Right guard A.J. Cann is the only starting offensive lineman not on the injury report for Week 6. The young lineman have to get ready to play on any given down.
The Jaguars have players on the injured reserve list from three position groups: Marqise Lee and Seferian-Jenkins from the pass catchers, Grant from the running backs, and Robinson from the offensive line. Injuries are going to happen from time to time and are unavoidable in a collision sport. You have to appreciate the toughness of Blake Bortles.
Since taking over as the starting quarterback in 2014, Bortles has played in every game. Now, they might not have been at an elite level but he plays. Perhaps this patchwork offense can get the Jaguars through the bye week where guys can rest and get ready for the playoff push.
