The Seattle Seahawks are sitting at 2-3 through five weeks and will need to put together a good run to make the playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks are one of the teams that will be on the cusp of making the playoffs when the season ends.

Last year, they were in the same situation but missed the postseason cut. For a team that entered a partial rebuild during the offseason, the Seahawks are actually playing above expectations. After struggling through the first two weeks of the season and looking totally lost, the team seems to have found some direction and is beginning to play like an experienced unit.

With that in mind, can they still make the 2018-19 playoffs? Here’s what the Seahawks will need to do for that to become reality.

Finish 4-2 in their division

I don’t expect the Seahawks to actually beat the Los Angeles Rams in their Week 10 rematch and nobody should. They played really well this past Sunday and almost took down Sean McVay’s team, but that will be a hard performance to repeat. On top of that, the Rams just have so many weapons that the Seahawks can not formulate a set plan to stop all of them. They just don’t have the defensive personnel to counter all of the Rams players.

The Seahawks have already beaten the Arizona Cardinals once this season, but the game was a lot closer than it needed to be. The Seahawks only escaped thanks to a last minute field goal, winning 20-17. The Cardinals have a rookie starting quarterback and are one of the worst teams in the league. Seattle can win if they play like they did against the Rams, but they can not afford to take the Cardinals to lightly. A loss to Arizona could be fatal to Seattle’s playoff hopes.

That just leaves the San Francisco 49ers who the Seahawks have yet to play. They don’t play for the first time until Week 13 and then the rematch is Week 15. The 49ers will be without their original starting quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, for the rest of the season and the Seahawks need to capitalize.

It’s also worth noting that Seahawks legend, Richard Sherman is on the 49ers and will be looking for some payback for the bad breakup between himself and the team. Emotions will be running high when these teams meet.
