23. New England Patriots – Isaiah Wynn

While at Georgia, Isaiah Wynn was an undersized tackle who dominated the competition. Additionally, he was experienced playing multiple positions along the offensive line at an elite level. Over the course of the draft process, Wynn made a name for himself, enough to be selected by the New England Patriots in the middle of the first round.

After impressing in workouts and early in camp, the Patriots were counting on Wynn to play right tackle for them. Unfortunately, a torn Achilles in the preseason ended his season before it ever began.

Grade: Incomplete

24. Carolina Panthers – D.J. Moore

The Carolina Panthers took wide receiver D.J. Moore in the first round hoping he would have an instant impact. Moore’s specialty coming out of Maryland was and is his ability to run after the catch. He’s an ideal fit in for the West Coast system run by Norv Turner. Moore was targeted just four times in the first three weeks. However, in Week 4, he caught all four of his targets for 49 yards. Over the first quarter of the season, Moore managed just one touchdown.

He’s a similar wide receiver to Steve Smith, but isn’t the same route runner. Until Moore can refine his route running and establish himself as a reliable target, it’s going to be a long season for the rookie. With a weapon like Christian McCaffrey at running back, who also runs better routes than Moore, it’s hard to imagine Moore getting the touches needed to be an effective weapon. Nevertheless,  the Panthers have to do a better job getting him more involved in the game plan.
