2019 NFL Mock Draft: 49ers shock at No. 1, Giants replace Eli
By Randy Gurzi
11. Denver Broncos: Andraez ‘Greedy’ Williams, CB, LSU
The no-fly zone hasn’t been as good this season. That has a lot to do with the Denver Broncos sending Aqib Talib to the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. They made the move for financial reasons as Talib’s price tag and age weren’t matching up. Even so, they don’t look the same without him.
And considering the way this offense looks, they need all the help they can get slowing opposing teams down. Their move to get quarterback Case Keenum in free agency — after realizing Paxton Lynch wasn’t going to live up to his draft status — hasn’t paid off. He’s had some moments where he looks fine, but that’s not to say he’s lived up to his price tag.
While they could consider replacing him, they’re hesitant to pull the trigger on a signal-caller here. During John Elway’s career as the Denver general manager, he’s missed on both Lynch and Brock Osweiler. They can’t let that stop them from drafting a quarterback ever again, but they decide to give Keenum another season while also looking at the possibility of developing Chad Kelly further.
Whichever way they go, rebuilding a shutdown defense will help them find ways to win. They add Andraez “Greedy” Williams here to pair with Chris Harris Jr. Together, the two can once again start grounding flights in the Mile High City.
