The New York Jets defeated the Indianapolis Colts 42-34 on Sunday in Week 6. Three players stood out, including a Player of the Week candidate.

For the first time in over a year, the New York Jets have won consecutive games. After defeating the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets now head into their Week 7 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings off back-to-back wins.

Sunday’s Week 6 victory featured a great offensive effort for Gang Green. Even though they gave up 34 points, the defense played well too and made enough plays to win the ball game, including forcing four turnovers (three interceptions and a fumble).

There’s plenty of praise to go around with this team, because it was an all around good game. Special teams got into the act, yet again. It was a three-phase performance. Even though it wasn’t the dominant performance from all three phases we saw Week 1 in Detroit, all three phases contributed to the win in some way.

Who were the players that stood out for the Jets against the Colts? Let’s take a look.

3. Darron Lee

When Darron Lee was drafted by the Jets, we knew it would be a huge transition. He went from 4-3 outside linebacker at Ohio State to 3-4 inside linebacker with the Jets. Those are two completely different positions base on the responsibilities and skills needed to play the position. After two seasons, Lee was showing signs that he wasn’t transitioning well to the NFL. Clearly, it was just a matter of time.

Lee picked off Andrew Luck for his third interception of the season in a heady move. He baited Luck into thinking he was blitzing and dropped into coverage for the pick. This is a clear indication that he’s picking up the game and the responsibilities of his position.

Even though it’s his third season, he still has some lapses and times where he makes mistakes. However, he’s clearly picking up the game. The Jets will likely end up picking up his fifth-year option if he continues playing like he has so far in 2018.
