2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

At the beginning of the season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were at the forefront of every NFL’s mind as FitzMagic reigned supreme. It’s a good thing that Ryan Fitzpatrick was playing like an MVP candidate, though, because the Bucs defense was downright awful.

That has since played out in recent weeks with Fitzpatrick coming back to Earth. The offense has still been good and explosive, but not enough to keep up with opposing offenses that have been torching this defense. Their pass defense in particular has been horribly problematic.

Subsequently, the Bucs sit at 2-2 with Jameis Winston now returned and they could potentially still make a run for a playoff spot. To do that, though, the defense must step up. A trade for Peterson would help that cause in a major way. The cornerback would give the secondary that lacks an established playmaker (in his prime at least) just that.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

Despite a big-time performance last week that helped the offense out as Patrick Mahomes showed human-like qualities for once, the Kansas City Chiefs defense has their issues. They don’t get to face off with Blake Bortles every week and, after trading Marcus Peters to the Rams this offseason, their cornerback group leaves a lot to be desired.

However, this is clearly a team that is heading towards the postseason. In most games, Mahomes and the Chiefs offense is going to do more than enough to keep the team competitive. If they can take a step forward defensively on a consistent basis, though, they are going to be a team that is a Super Bowl favorite.

Patrick Peterson could be that type of player for the Chiefs. Having a three-man rotation of Peterson, Kendall Fuller and Steven Nelson gives this group a dramatic step forward and could be a move that’s a Super-Bowl-winner for KC.
