The Seattle Seahawks played fantastic in their 27-3 win against the Oakland Raiders. It was a dominant win for Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks should be thrilled with the thrashing they just handed the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at Wembley Stadium. The defense was as dominant as the Legion of Boom used to be, except it was the defensive front that won the day this time.

The Seahawks defense, Frank Clark in particular, was locked down against the Raiders. But it wasn’t just the defense that had a good day. The offense was working too, grinding away at the Raiders struggling defense.

Coming off a dominant victory, here are the big takeaways for the Seahawks after Week 6.

Seahawks defense has great potential

The Seahawks defense broke Derek Carr and controlled Marshawn Lynch in a blowout game on Sunday. Carr threw the ball 31 times and completed 23 of his passes, a 71.88 competition percentage, but only gained 142 yards through the air. It’s rare in this era for a defense to hold a quarterback as good as Carr to less than 200 yards, but the Seahawks were in lockdown mode.

Carr was sacked six times during the game, amounting to a total loss of 36 yards, and turned the ball over twice on fumbles. The Seahawks recorded ten quarterback hits and simply pounded away on Carr all game long, never letting him get in a rhythm. There was nothing Carr could do to break through the Seahawks defense.

It was the Seahawks’ first time facing Lynch since he “retired” a few seasons back. For those who don’t know, Lynch retired after some frustrating events with the teams. He then came out of retirement and left to join the Raiders. The Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll are well aware of how lethal the future Hall of Fame running back can be.

Lynch only carried the ball 13 times in the game and the Seahawks held him to just 45 rushing yards. That put Lynch at just 3.5 yards per carry. The Seahawks even contained him well though the air. Lynch caught three passes but only managed to gain 14 receiving yards.
