Green Bay Packers: 3 Big takeaways from win vs. 49ers in Week 6
The Green Bay Packers ended the first half of their season on a high note, but not without some drama. What are the big takeaways from Monday Night’s showdown?
3-2-1 isn’t a bad way to end the first half of the season if you think about it. The Green Bay Packers haven’t looked like a playoff team after the first six weeks of the regular season, but they have managed to stay above .500.
Besides the Buffalo game, the Packers have yet to put a complete game together. Luckily, Aaron Rodgers has been able to lead two fantastic comebacks for victories to keep the Packers afloat.
The bye week cannot come at a better time. Wide receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison have been nursing injuries. Jaire Alexander and Bashaud Breeland have been injured too. All four guys will have crucial roles for this team down the stretch.
One thing the Packers need to do more is run the ball. It has been said countless times already this season, but the Packers have three serviceable running backs. Use them. Rodgers is not at 100 percent yet, although he hopes to be soon. A run game will take the pressure off of him.
Head coach Mike McCarthy likes to abandon the run game early in the game. A good running back won’t have great runs all the time. However, running the ball seems to stop as soon as they aren’t producing big plays. The team did finish with 116 yards rushing on the night, but running the ball was almost nonexistent for a good majority of the game.
The Packers did squeak out the win. But, it wasn’t the convincing win it should have been. What are the big takeaways from Monday Night?
