18. Funchess finally breaks 100+ receiving yards

Despite having a 3-2 record, the Carolina Panthers are still one of those teams in the NFC that football fans are trying to figure out, especially with their latest loss to the Washington Redskins this past Sunday. On paper, the Panthers seem to have one of the top overall teams in the NFL when looking at the talent they have to work with on both sides of the football, but also Cam Newton needs more support from his teammates on offense.

As frustrating as it’s been to see Newton end up being the leading rusher on numerous occasions so far in 2018, the Carolina quarterback could also use some extra help in the wide receiver department. The Panthers had high expectations for Devin Funchess continuing to take on a larger role in 2018, and while it’s been great to see him haul in 23 catches in five games, Newton still needs more from one of his favorite targets.

Maybe on Sunday, Funchess can figure out a way to take advantage of a Philadelphia Eagles secondary that has been inconsistent for the most part throughout the regular season, with Jalen Mills drawing all sorts of mixed reviews. And if that does end up happening, Carolina will be in much better shape in what is turning out to be a tough NFC.
