Inconsistent Osweiller drops Fins into tie for East lead

The Dolphins narrowly defeated the Bears 31-28 as time expired in overtime — avoiding the third tie of the NFL season. That game was the perfect illustration as to why Brock Osweiller isn’t a starting quarterback. He’s not consistent enough to be one.

His lack of consistency within games, let alone from game to game, means he’s unreliable. It’s the reason he’s only in Dolphins games due to injury. Sure, he had his moments in that game, but two interceptions — one that led to a Bears touchdown — could’ve broken the Dolphins.

The Lions pass defense has allowed 10 touchdowns this season, which is tied for 13th most in the league. They also have the worst 4th passer rating against them (105.5). That said, they’ve allowed the 11th fewest overall points and the fewest passing yards, and that will hurt Osweiller and the Dolphins.

Osweiller will revert to the bad Brock in this game, and the Lions secondary will find a way to stifle his attempts to move the chains. Despite the fact that the Lions have only two interceptions going into the game, they will find a way to pick off the turnover prone quarterback, and the Lions will send the Dolphins into a three-way tie for first with the Jets and Patriots.
