Chargers are true Super Bowl contenders

The city of Los Angeles has 25 world championships in the pro sports leagues in this country. Despite that overall success (4th most among all major metropolitan areas), they only have two pro football championships.

The Tennessee Titans were a playoff team in 2017, and they are tied for first in the AFC South this year. So far, the Chargers are 1-2 in 2018 against 2017 playoff teams, and they need another one to solidify themselves as true Super Bowl contenders.

With a win over the Titans, they will improve their record to 5-2 heading into their bye week. This will also be their fourth straight win. Last season, they started slow, and they got hot after their Bye, but it was too little too late for them.

This is the NFL, not college. There are no “brownie points” for who you beat. As Bill Parcells once said, “You are what your record says you are.” So, that means 5-2 is 5-2. A 5-2 record will squarely put them in the Super Bowl contender conversation in the AFC, even with the Patriots looming. The Patriots defense isn’t what they once were. So with the offensive firepower in L.A., there’s a chance when they beat the Titans.
