Fans of the New York Jets have been waiting for tight ends to break out for a long time. If you play fantasy football, this may be the week for you.

The New York Jets haven’t had a tight end come up in the discussion of Fantasy Football for a long time. This week, though, if the discussion is about sleeper picks, you may not only want to check the waiver wire for the Jets tight ends, you may want to double-dip.

The Jets have injury issues to their wide receivers. Quincy Enunwa has a high ankle sprain and will be out for 3-4 weeks, and Terrelle Pryor is dealing with a groin injury that hasn’t seen him miss playing time. So, that means the Jets are limited to four wide receivers — Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse, Andre Roberts, and Charone Peake — that are 100 percent healthy.

The confluence of events have created a perfect storm for Jets tight ends to finally break out. They have a rookie quarterback (typically that means tight end friendly), an offense that is catch and run friendly, two tight ends who are athletic and can give you some yards after the catch, an offense that runs better with multiple tight ends on the field, and a depleted wide receiver group.

They are also facing one of the worst teams in terms of tight end coverage in the NFL. The Vikings have allowed the sixth most catches and fourth most yards and yards per catch to tight ends in the NFL this season. They’ve also surrendered at least nine points to tight ends in five of six games this season.

According to Sharp Football Stats, the Jets have run multiple tight ends on 38.2 percent of their pass plays with a 43 percent success rate. So with a depleted wide receiver group, expect the usage rate and the targets to go up.

All in all, it sets up well for Jordan Leggett and Chris Herndon this week. You should consider these two if they’re available in your fantasy league.
