The Dallas Cowboys continued their disastrous play on the road and lost to the Washington Redskins. Here are three takeaways from the divisional loss.

The Dallas Cowboys were looking to continue their solid play from Week 6 when they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars by a score of 40-7. That didn’t happen as they struggled to move the ball consistently on the road against the Washington Redskins and ended up losing 20-17.

It’s become a pretty bad trend for Dallas as they’ve been terrible on the road this season. The loss to Washington dropped them to 0-4 on the road — although they had a shot in this one.

The defense played well and kept them in the game until a late mistake from quarterback Dak Prescott that led to a defensive touchdown for Washington.

Dallas kept fighting and they got themselves into position to try and tie the game with a 52-yard field goal. It wasn’t meant to be however as Brett Maher hit the upright, which ended his streak of 16 makes in a row.

That will surely send shockwaves throughout the fanbase as there were so many who were furious that they went with Maher over veteran Dan Bailey. Those people probably don’t realize Bailey also missed a kick today (and has missed more than Maher has this season).

The fact is, the team can’t leave it up to the kickers. They have to find a way to win with their offense, or else games like this will continue to frustrate fans.

With them heading into a bye week, we now look at three big takeaways from the Cowboys Week 7 loss.
