Green Bay Packers: 3 Possible trades to acquire Patrick Peterson
By Joe Kipp
The Packers drafted three receivers in the 2018 draft, but only two of them have found themselves on the field seeing regular snaps. Marquez Valdes-Scantling has easily been the most promising, while Equanimeous St. Brown has shown he can hold his own as well. The odd one out in all of this is J’Mon Moore.
Moore showed reasons for optimism during the preseason, but has struggled to get on the field due to his fellow rookie teammates’ encouraging play. Injuries to Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison have allowed for such opportunities.
With both Allison and Cobb set to return from their respective injuries this week against the Los Angeles Rams, St. Brown and Valdes-Scantling could see themselves losing snaps — which means Moore is definitely not seeing snaps. Not to mention preseason standout and new fan favorite Jake Kumerow is set to return from injured reserve in the coming weeks.
The Cardinals have a lack of depth at receiver. Larry Fitzgerald is set to retire any day now, while the rest of the receiving corps is comprised of No. 2s and 3s. Rookie Christian Kirk has shown to have a rapport with rookie quarterback Josh Rosen, but other than that, Arizona’s receivers (and offense as a whole) has been extremely disappointing.
The Packers could stand to give away Moore and a second-rounder for Patrick Peterson, a move that would assuredly improve Green Bay’s defense — and subsequently their chances of contending for a Super Bowl.
