The San Francisco 49ers were stomped 39-10 by the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7, here we look at three takeaways from the defeat.

The San Francisco 49ers slumped to their worst loss of the season as they were crushed 39-10 by the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

A failure to protect the ball was once again the Niners undoing as they continually set the best offense in football up with excellent field position, and the Rams took full advantage in what quickly developed into a shellacking.

After a gut-wrenching loss to the Green Bay Packers in which the 49ers failed to take advantage of their most complete performance, here we look at the three takeaways from a display in which the team collapsed in almost every area.

Miscues make it easy for Rams

The 49ers came into the game with the league’s worst turnover differential, and that worsened courtesy of a disastrous offensive display. San Francisco turned the ball over four times. C.J. Beathard fumbled on the Niners first drive and Matt Breida, having rolled his ankle on their opening offensive snap, returned from that injury only to immediately cough it up himself.

Beathard was also intercepted twice as he regressed significantly from his impressive showing at Lambeau Field, and the 49ers had a punt blocked out of the back of the end zone for a safety.

Though the Breida fumble and Beathard’s second interception were excellent plays made by Aaron Donald and John Johnson respectively, San Francisco’s carelessness with the ball made life extremely easy on the Rams high-powered attack and very difficult on a 49er defense that played well early.

The Niners had been able to remain competitive in every game despite their propensity for turnovers. On Sunday, however, they were punished in emphatic fashion. It will be tough for them to add to their sole win if this issue is not fixed.
