The Seattle Seahawks have started the season 3-3, but they might have won more games if these players had contributed more.

The Seattle Seahawks are in a retooling season but still have a slim shot at making the playoffs. The team hasn’t looked bad through the first six games of the season, in fact the offense seems to be hitting its stride as of late. The three games the team lost were by a combined 13 points.

All three of those games were winnable and while no one player is to blame for any loss, wins would come a lot easier if these players stepped up their games.

With that in mind, here are four big disappointments for Seattle entering Week 8.

Rashaad Penny

It’s early to be getting on Penny’s case, he is only a rookie after all. Even so, when you’re a first round pick you carry a certain level of expectations. So far, Penny has only shown he’s the third best running back on the Seahawks depth chart.

Chris Carson has clearly secured the starting position and is averaging a solid 70.4 rushing yards per game. Mike Davis filled in as the starter for Carson during Week 4 and rushed for over 100 yards. That leaves Penny on the outside.

The running game has been huge for the Seahawks this season. The running backs have been able to take a lot of pressure off of Russell Wilson and the team has only lost one game where the running backs have combined for over 100 yards on the ground. The Seahawks lost both games where the backs were held below 100 yards. Penny is the only running back out of the main three who hasn’t rushed for 100 yards in a game this season.

Penny was a sold as a dynamic back when the Seahawks selected him to everybody’s surprise with the 27th pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was taken ahead of more successful rookies like, Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, Kerryon Johnson, Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay, who to be fair no one drafted.

If Penny doesn’t start producing soon, there are going to be some real questions as to why the Seahawks chose him.
