8. Kevin White crosses the century mark
For three straight years, 2015 seventh-overall pick Kevin White has suffered season-ending injuries. Now that he’s finally healthy, he’s looking to make big things happen for the Chicago Bears. He’s appeared in all six games, but it wasn’t until he faces the New England Patriots that his name was called.
White was targeted just two times, but he made the best of it. One of them came at the last second where he came down with a Hail Mary, although it came up short of the goal-line. He finished the game with 64 yards and rekindled the glimmer of hope fans had for him three years ago.
This week, he’s facing a Jets defense that has struggled against the pass. The only team to not have a receiver score against the Jets all season was the Browns. The Bears are on a roll and White gives Mitchell Trubisky a target who can stretch the field and make plays after the catch. What he showed against the Patriots was just an appetizer — the Jets game will be the full course meal. White will end the game with his first 100-yard performance of his career.
7. Browns will take down the Steelers
Over the last two seasons, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had trouble against the Cleveland Browns and that will continue Sunday. In Cleveland in a Week 1 matchup between these two, things ended with a tie. Since then, the Browns have competed in every game, except for a big loss to the Chargers.
Baker Mayfield, who didn’t start against Pittsburgh in the first meeting, showed what he’s capable of against the Buccaneers bad defense, completing 67 percent of his passes throwing for two touchdowns. The Steelers are another porous pass defense that Mayfield can attack. Moreover, Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson make for an interesting duo and should carry the offense and make things easier for Mayfield. After Sunday, the Browns will be 3-4-1 and fighting in the AFC North.
