Dallas Cowboys: 7-Round Mock Draft, post-Amari Cooper trade
By Randy Gurzi
Round 3: Juan Thornhill, Safety, Virginia
Before landing Amari Cooper, Dallas was tied to safety Earl Thomas of the Seattle Seahawks. They never came to terms with Seattle and Thomas’ season ended with a broken leg. After the year is done, Thomas could still find his way to Big D. The Texas product is a free agent after this season and could end up signing with Dallas.

Whether or not that happens, they could use some help at the position. Dallas is currently led by Jeff Heath at safety and while he’s an underrated option, they’re thin behind him. Here they add some help with Juan Thornhill out of Virginia.
The senior safety is a decent tackler and has been a ballhawk the past three seasons since becoming a starter.
Round 4: Daniel Wise, Defensive Tackle, Kansas
Another position that can use some depth is the defensive tackle spot. Here they address that area by adding Kansas D-tackle Daniel Wise. At 6-4 and 290-pounds, Wise would likely fit as a three-technique in the Dallas defense.
With Tyrone Crawford and David Irving manning that spot, this isn’t an area of need — although it can become one fast. Irving is a free agent after 2018 and has been someone the team hasn’t been able to trust. If they do move on from him, they need to start adding more talent. Even if they do extend him, the depth could be better.
