Green Bay Packers: Midseason awards, Part 2
The Green Bay Packers are at their bye week with a 3-2-1 record. The break is a good time to highlight some of the best from the first half (or so) of the season.
Before the Green Bay Packers head to Los Angeles to face the undefeated Rams, we take a look back at the first half of the Packers season. There hasn’t been a shortage of memorable moments, good and bad, for the team. From the opening night come back, to a disappointing tie, Crosby’s worst game of his career to arguably his best. It’s been a roller coaster start to the 2018 campaign.
The 3-2-1 record the Packers have heading into the bye week seems worse than it actually is. First of all, the tie should not have happened. Between a blown 13 point fourth quarter lead, to a horrible roughing the passer call, the Packers should have escaped week two with a win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Then, in Week 5, Mason Crosby had the worst game of his career. He left 13 points on the board from four missed field goals and a missed extra point. Of course, the Packers would lose by less than 13 points, so if Crosby makes those kicks, the Packers leave Detroit with a win instead of a loss.
That puts their record at 5-1 heading into the bye week. So, the Packers are just a few plays away from being one of the best teams in the league at this point.
It’s time to continue the Packers midseason awards list. (In case you missed Part 1, go back and check what hardware was handed out, then we’ll dive into Part 2 here.)
