1. QB Carson Wentz

The third-year pro got off to a rough start on Sunday afternoon against the Jaguars’ defense. On the team’s first possession of the game, quarterback Carson Wentz was sacked and lost his fifth fumble of the season. Later in the first quarter, he drove the team deep into Jacksonville territory but was picked off in the end zone by cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

But the young signal-caller wound finally settle in and started spreading the football around against a team that came into Week 8 allowing the fewest passing yards per game in the league. The second overall pick in the NFL Draft in 2016 wound up connecting on 70 percent of his throws (21-of-30) for 286 yards and three touchdowns.

He targeted 10 different players in the game and nine of those came down with at least one reception. Veteran Jordan Matthews came up with four catches for 93 yards. Meanwhile, Wentz’s scores went to tight ends Dallas Goedert (32 yards) and Zach Ertz (five yards), as well as running back Wendell Smallwood (36 yards).

The Eagles are back at the .500 mark and Wentz continues to look more like his 2017 self. Yes, those fumbles are certainly a concern. But it’s also worth noting that the young quarterback ran six times for 28 yards against the Jaguars. He may be just getting warmed up as the Birds take the week off and prepare for the second half of the season.
