Chicago Bears: 3 Big takeaways from win vs. Jets in Week 8
The Chicago Bears defeated the New York Jets in a Week 8 matchup. Here are three takeaways from the game.
After two consecutive losses at the hands of AFC East opponents, the Chicago Bears took on another team from that division. They hosted Sam Darnold and the New York Jets. They finally got a win against that division, downing the Jets 17-10.
The Bears pretty much controlled the game. The offense did just enough as the defense dominated again. They again stuffed the run. That forced Darnold to try to win the game, which is not a recipe for success.
On offense, quarterback Mitch Trubisky again was inconsistent. He continued to miss wide open targets as he’s done for most of the season. He did, however, make good throws and decisions that led to big plays and touchdowns.
The thing about the offense was the inconsistency again. They had another slow start and a slow first half altogether. However, they again came alive in the second half and look like a different team. Hopefully, they can put together a complete game when they face tougher opponents.
This was an important game for the Bears to win. It gave them a winning record (4-3) again and kept them in the running for the NFC North crown. Additionally, it gives the team some confidence after losing a lot of it with two straight losses.
Another positive coming out of this win is that they got away with sitting two key players, wide receiver Allen Robinson and Mr. Everything, Khalil Mack. Robinson was dealing with a groin injury and Mack an ankle problem. The Bears won and got to rest key players and have them get closer to full health.
Speaking of health, we now stand in bated breath on offensive lineman Kyle Long‘s condition. He went down late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. It was the same ankle that he seriously injured earlier in his career.
Let’s go over three takeaways from this game.
