With the 2018 NFL Trade Deadline looming, here are three players the Detroit Lions should be looking to deal to get something in return.

The Detroit Lions got an early jump on the 2018 NFL Trade Deadline last week when they dealt a fifth-round pick to the New York Giants for defensive tackle Damon Harrison. Despite the loss to the Seahawks, that deal is already looking like a stroke of genius as Harrison had a big impact in his Lions debut. Run defense has been a problem all season long and there was a definite difference on Sunday when Harrison was in the game compared to when he wasn’t.

With the week of the trade deadline here it’s worth wondering whether or not the Lions will stand pat or if they will be working the phones in search of another deal.

The Lions now sit a game below .500 at 3-4 but they remain just a game out of the NFC North lead. Their ability to compete for a Wild Card spot in the NFC may be tenuous but they are very much in the hunt for the division. That leaves them in a bit of a no-man’s land situation as it looks like their playoff hopes may hinge entirely on whether or not they they can win the North.

The roster is far from being just one player away and the team’s current cap situation makes landing another impact player improbable. At the same time, the Lions should not be absolute sellers. What they could do is look to unload some minor pieces that would not adversely impact the rest of their 2018 season.

Obviously these kind of deals would not bring in anything other than late-round draft picks, perhaps even with conditions attached before a return picks is even officially conveyed to the Lions. Here are three candidates who could fit that description.
