Landon Collins, New York Giants

The New York Giants are an absolute mess at the moment and have already traded away a few pieces before the trade deadline. Landon Collins might be another player the Giants are looking to move. He’d garner decent draft capital, which bodes well for a team clearly in the rebuilding stages.

Like Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Collins is a former first-rounder out of Alabama. That being said, there’s some pretty big differences in their skillsets. Collins is more of an in-the-box safety who flies around the field looking to head hunt. Clinton-Dix is a player who plays in the deep half of the field as more of a ball hawk.

If Green Bay were to acquire Collins, he’d be an immediate game-changer for the defense. He’d immediately slide in for current starter Kentrell Brice at strong safety, and would allow defensive coordinator Mike Pettine to move him around as a hybrid-style linebacker/safety. Collins is currently ranked as Pro Football Focus (subscription required) 14th overall safety, while Brice stands at 78th overall.

The Giants are probably taking calls on Collins as we speak, so the market for the former first-team All-Pro is probably higher than most. A second- or third-round pick may be enough to pry him away.
