The Jacksonville Jaguars losing a second-quarter fumble proved to be very costly in losing, 24-18, to the Philadelphia Eagles in London.

The 2018 season has been a nightmare for the Jacksonville Jaguars after dreaming of a Super Bowl LIII victory. Injuries and turnovers have played a huge in role the downturn this season. A second quarter fumble proved to be very costly as the Jaguars lose 24-18 in London.

Josh Lambo kicked two first half field goals of 50 and 57 yards. His first one opened the scoring for Jacksonville. He added the 57 yarder to put Jacksonville ahead 6-3 over the Philadelphia Eagles,  late in the second quarter.

Keelan Cole has struggled this season to make plays. Through seven games, he has caught 27 passes for 357 yards with one touchdown. Most of all, he has dropped five passes which ranks as the second most in the NFL, according to NBC Sports.

Late in the second quarter, the Jaguars defense forced Philadelphia to punt on fourth down. Jacksonville had the ball with 1:44 on the clock. Blake Bortles threw an incomplete pass on first down.

On second down, Bortles threw Coles direction. Cole made the grasp and ran downfield. The turning point of the game happened as Cole fumbled the ball. Philadelphia scored a touchdown to lead 10-6 at halftime.

Jacksonville has struggled to score touchdowns throughout this season. Today was no different. Lambo kicked four field goals to account for twelve of the Jaguars’ sixteen points. Philadelphia was able to score touchdowns.

Jacksonville forced two Eagles turnovers. The only turnover, by the Jaguars, was very costly. Momentum turned away from Jacksonville and they were not able to recapture it. The Eagles scored two more second half touchdowns. Bortles threw to Dede Westbrook for the only Jaguars touchdown of the day. Jacksonville lost its fourth-straight game.

For the game, the Jaguars could not get the running game going. They ran the ball 17 times for 70 yards. Bortles was the leading rusher with 43 yards on eight carries. Newly acquired Carlos Hyde had six carries for 11 yards. Remember, the Jaguars identify themselves as a run first offense.

Jacksonville has a week 9 bye. Hopefully the team can heal some bumps and bruises and be ready for Indianapolis.
