NFL Power Rankings, Week 9: Rams avoid first loss, Texans white hot
By Dan Parzych
It’s time to take a look at the 2018 NFL Power Rankings for Week 9, with the Los Angeles Rams improving to 8-0 while the Houston Texans winning their fifth in a row.
From the Kansas City Chiefs hanging on for a close win over the Denver Broncos to the Washington Redskins remaining on top of the NFC East, there are plenty of hot topics worth discussing for the 2018 NFL Power Rankings for Week 9. However, when it comes to the most thrilling wins from the most recent week of action, it’s tough to top what both the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans were able to accomplish.
Thanks to an impressive 7-0 start, the Rams were early favorites over the Green Bay Packers heading into Sunday’s contest, but also knew this meeting would be far from a cake walk since Aaron Rodgers is one of the best in the business for a reason. Even towards the end of the game when Los Angeles went up two points with just over two minutes remaining, previous situations from Rodgers made it seem like Green Bay would find a way to come up on the winning end, that is until Ty Montgomery fumbled on the kickoff.
Handing the Rams their first loss of 2018 would have been huge for the Packers when looking at some of the difficult games this team has already dealt with so far, but also shows they do deserve to be considered a strong contender in the NFC.
As for the Texans, it’s amazing to think how back in September, this team seemed like a lost cause following a 0-3 start before going on to win their next five games, including their most recent victory over the Miami Dolphins.
So what exactly does this mean for the latest NFL Power Rankings? Well, it’s time to jump into the latest edition for Week 9 by kicking things off with the 1-7 San Francisco 49ers, who just can’t seem to catch a break.
