NFL Trade Deadline 2018: One deal each team should make
Buffalo Bills: Set up for Josh Allen’s future
Despite what some scouts said about the Wyoming product, Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen has shown some decent flashes this season. It’s no secret that Allen is a physical specimen, and his arm strength is all-time good. It seemed like Allen was just about to put it all together, taking down the Vikings in short order. Then, he suffered an arm injury against the Texans and the Bills haven’t been close to the same since.
Following Allen’s injury, the Bills somehow came to the conclusion that Nathan Peterman was the answer at quarterback. That didn’t work, at all, so the Bills brought in veteran journeyman Derek Anderson. That didn’t work either, as the Bills only scored five points against the Colts in Week 7. With Allen likely out for a while, and maybe for the season, the Bills might just want to pack it in until 2019.
To do this, they’re going to need some serious draft capital. LeSean McCoy is the hot topic in Buffalo’s trade talks right now, and rightfully so. the 30-year old running back will likely not be needed for the Bills’ rebuild. Any team desperate for skill players could give up a solid draft selection for McCoy, as he still has some value left in him. This is all about Josh Allen for the Bills, and all about the future.
