Kansas City Chiefs: 3 NFL Trade Deadline moves that make sense
By Keaton Henry
The Kansas City Chiefs head toward Tuesday’s NFL Trade Deadline limping in some key position groups. With Super Bowl contention in mind, the team’s front office should look to shuffle the roster.
The Kansas City Chiefs, following a strong 30-20 defeat of the Denver Broncos on Sunday, continue to the take the NFL by storm. With a strong offense led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and a defense that continues to find a way to mesh enough to achieve adequacy, this season’s Kansas City team has the looks of a potential Super Bowl contender.
With that being said, this team is a far cry away from being the best in the league, and is even further from being a shoo-in for the aforementioned football championship.
Given the early success of Mahomes and his developing relationship with star offensive weapons like wide receiver Tyreek Hill, running back Kareem Hunt and tight end Travis Kelce, the Kansas City front office should be in full buyer-mode before Tuesday’s NFL Trade Deadline at 4 p.m. ET.
As rumors have grown over the past few weeks in regards to star players like New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Le’Veon Bell, I would be a fool to assure you any trade of that caliber for the Chiefs. First off, these two players are mentioned as examples, but both would be better fits on almost any other NFL team. So, please understand that I am not suggesting that OBJ or Bell should be a target by the Chiefs.
However, there are a few players that are viable fixes or improvements that could bring the team a lot closer to that championship-caliber roster. Let’s take a look at three such players.
