Patrick Peterson, Cornerback, Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals are in complete sell-mode right now. With almost every defensive player available, the new regime in Arizona, seemingly, holds the mindset that it needs to get younger and cheaper.

Rumors involving Patrick Peterson began over a month ago, but have since simmered a bit when reports surfaced that Peterson would not be moved. However, given Kansas City’s need for defensive backfield help, they may be able to offer a deal that could convince the team to shift their thinking.

Peterson, 28, has two years left on his team-friendly deal, which aligns perfectly with the Chiefs’ Super Bowl window while Mahomes is still on his rookie contract. Add that to the possible return of safeties Daniel Sorensen and Eric Berry, and you have an extremely competent defensive unit heading into the later portion of the season.

A move for Peterson would certainly be costly, potentially as high as a first-round selection, but the reality is that the production you would receive from the cornerback would certainly be more than any rookie they would select in the first round.

If the Chiefs truly believe that they can get to, and possibly win, the Super Bowl within the next two seasons, a move to acquire Peterson is a must.
