20. Patriots get deep-threat with Randy Moss

Remember some of that talk earlier on about how some trades in the NFL can be completely lopsided, especially when seeing how some teams receive amazing players for basically nothing?

For the New England Patriots, that was exactly the case in 2007 when they acquired Randy Moss from the Oakland Raiders. The Patriots only had to give up a fourth-round pick in return for Moss.

Moving on from Moss after just two seasons was a little frustrating for the Raiders. There’s a reason why he was viewed as one of the league’s top receivers before eventually earning a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Just like he did at the beginning of his career as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, Moss wasted no time making an impact right away during his first year with the Patriots. He quickly became a favorite target for New England quarterback Tom Brady to work with.

Winning the Super Bowl after going 16-0 during the 2007 season would have been a great accomplishment for New England. At least the career high of 23 touchdowns to go along with 98 catches for 1,493 yards was still something for Moss to be proud of.

No matter how hard defenders tried that season, nobody seemed to have an answer when it came to stopping Moss. It’s a shame he never did get that ring as a member of the Patriots, as he certainly deserved to.

Not to mention, New England will always look back at that season wondering what could have been. Moss and company missed out on a golden opportunity to join the Miami Dolphins in the history books as the only teams to finish with a perfect season.
