The 2018 NFL Trade Deadline has come and gone, and it was a busy day. Who made the best moves by the 4:00 p.m. ET deadline?
Typically the NFL Trade Deadline doesn’t have a lot of buzz. This year was very different. It seemed more like the MLB Trade Deadline rather than the NFL. The truth is that this could be more the norm in the NFL, because it may be better for teams that are on the cusp of Super Bowl or playoff contention to trade.
When it comes to this year’s trade deadline, teams were active. Deals were made at the deadline and leading up to the deadline. Teams who made moves today both eliminated themselves from playoff contention and made some contenders for the Super Bowl. On the other hand, teams needed to make move to win a division.
So what were the best moves of the deadline in 2018? Let’s take a look at the five best additions that were made.
5. Houston Texans – Demaryius Thomas
The Houston Texans are contenders for the AFC South. After losing Will Fuller to a torn ACL, they needed another weapon on the outside alongside Deandre Hopkins.
The Broncos traded Thomas to the Texans along with a seventh-round pick in he 2019 NFL Draft for a third- and seventh-round pick. The move is exactly what the doctor ordered for the Texans. Now they have two weapons on the outside to provide Deshaun Watson what he needs to help lead this team to the title in the AFC South.
This move make the Texans the favorites in the AFC South. They are now also slight contenders in the AFC playoff picture to be the representative in the Super Bowl.
