The San Francisco 49ers have plenty of reason to be sellers at the NFL trade deadline, here we look at three players who should be on the block.

The 2018 season and Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury enforced absence has revealed holes in the San Francisco 49ers roster they probably didn’t think existed.

With the Niners sliding to 1-7 midway through a dismal year, focus will steadily be shifting towards the offseason and collecting draft capital to help them address problem areas that were not evident when Garoppolo was healthy.

With that in mind there is plenty of reason for the Niners to be looking to sell off players who carry little value to them at this year’s trade dealine. Here we look who should be on the block before trading is brought to a close for 2018 on Tuesday.

Pierre Garcon

He may not be definitively on the block, but Kyle Shanahan confirmed reports the 49ers have had discussions about trading for Garcon in his post-game press conference on Sunday, and it is a move that would make perfect sense for both sides.

Garcon had a promising first season with the Niners derailed by injury, and he has been unable to make an impact in 2018 for the same reason. At 32 and with the final three years of his contract option years the Niners would likely not pick up at this stage, he carries little value for a team that would be better served evaluating what it has in Kendrick Bourne, who filled in admirably for Garcon in Week 8 to the tune of seven catches for 71 yards.

When healthy Garcon still has the ability to be a fine complementary receiver for a contending team. He deserves to have that chance and the Niners should not hesitate to make the move if a team offers a late-round pick for the veteran.
