There have been some wild and wacky wide receivers to come through the NFL over the years. However, there may not have been any quite as eccentric or exciting as Terrell Owens.

The class clown of the league throughout his career, Owens made up for his on- and-off-field antics with amazing play and production. Although people tend to write him off because of his failed attempts to keep his career alive, there’s no denying that he was sensational at the height of his playing days.

Just look back at the numbers if you need convincing. Throughout his 15-year career, Owens broke the 1,000-yard mark nine times and hauled in double-digit touchdowns eight times. Or who can forget his 20-reception game, which was then a record? Owens may have been easy to hate as a person, but he was hard to ignore as a player.

His career resulted in six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro selections. More importantly though, he left us with awesome moments like the Sharpie, popcorn and Dallas star incidents. Seriously, the guy knew how to entertain as well as he knew how to catch a football.

Believe it or not, Owens is still second on the all-time receiving list behind another San Francisco 49ers great. That may not last for very long with Larry Fitzgerald only a few yards away from Owens, but that won’t take away from the tremendous NFL career he had.
