A.J. Brown, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss

Right now, the Jets don’t have a true No. 1 receiver at the standards of a No. 1 receiver of the NFL of today. Robby Anderson is limited in his route tree, Quincy Enunwa is injured for the second season in a row, and Jermaine Kearse is best used in the slot. The last time the Jets took a true No. 1 receiver early in the draft, you have to go back to 1996 when they took Keyshawn Johnson No. 1 overall.

Let’s say the next guy on the list is gone, the Jets feel Adams is too much of an injury risk, and they can’t get a man they consider to be a No. 1 receiver in free agency. The next best thing to an offensive lineman in the first round would be that No. 1 receiver.

Imagine if you had Quincy Enunwa on one side, and a similar version of him on the other, only the other version was better. That’s what A.J. Brown could be and that would be a dangerous duo. Even though you may not be able to put him in the elite category, he has the size and strength to get the 50/50 balls, and he has speed.

Like Enunwa, in addition to being a deep threat, he will provide the Jets with yards after the catch, which is what the Jets need in their offense.
