We are halfway through the season and there’s a big debate that needs to start brewing. Who is the NFL MVP halfway through 2018?

Winning MVP in all sports is a very prestigious honor. The NFL MVP is one of the most prestigious in sports due to the nature of the NFL. There’s one problem. The debate always arises, how do we determine NFL MVP?

The truth of the matter is that MVP in all sports could go to the same people every season if you go word by word and define it precisely by the dictionary definition of the words. To be frank, we have turned the MVP award in many sports into what is truly a most outstanding player award as opposed to a most valuable player award, but I guess that could be up to the interpretation of the word “value.”

Value is a difficult word to define, because often if a team is good, that means we don’t have a lot of negatives to compare the good to, and that means we can’t really assign true value. All the value we assign are based purely on assumptions that if this player weren’t on the team that things would be drastically different.

So who are the top players in line for the 2018 NFL MVP award after eight full weeks of action? Let’s take a look.

10. Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers

If the Packers were better than 3-3-1 in 2018, Aaron Rodgers would be much higher on this list. The fact that they’re even at the .500 mark is amazing unto itself. Much of that has to do with the play of Rodgers.

Even though sometimes he goes off script too much, he’s also forced to a lot due to his poor offensive line and limited weapons. The defense also put Rodgers in a situation where he constantly has to play hero.

Rodgers is one of those players that could be on a list like this every season, because, despite an organization that doesn’t build around him, he still puts this team in contention for the playoffs. The sole reason Rodgers is low on the list is because of being .500. Otherwise, he’s be closer to the top, and maybe even be the No. 1 player on this list.
