The Philadelphia Eagles are officially halfway through their 2018 season. Here’s how they grade out through the first eight weeks.

The Philadelphia Eagles find themselves sitting at .500 through the first half of the 2018 season. 4-4 isn’t the record they strived for, but hope is not lost on this team.

They’ll have tough matchups ahead against tough NFC competition, including two matchups against the division leading Washington Redskins.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves we should take some time to reflect on the Eagles season at the midway point. Here are the midseason grades for this 2018 Eagles team, going position-by-position.

Quarterbacks: B

The Eagles season has been a whirlwind thus far and it all started with the quarterback situation. With Carson Wentz still sidelined from his ACL injury from last year, it was Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles who began the season under the center.

Foles had a less than stellar game in the season opener against Atlanta, but the Eagles were still able to win. In Week 2 against Tampa Bay, Foles had a much better statistical performance. He threw for 334 yards and a touchdown, but, unfortunately, the Eagles lost that game.

Wentz returned from injury to start in Week 3. His record of 3-3 in six starts isn’t one to gawk over, but his stats are. In those six games, he has a completion percentage of 70 with 13 touchdowns and only two interceptions. The numbers are great, but we all know that quarterbacks are judged by wins and losses, fair or not.

Running Backs: C-

This season has been a tough go for the Eagles running back corps. Heading into the season, the trio of Jay Ajayi, Darren Sproles and Corey Clement appeared to be the strength of this Eagles offense. Sadly, this group has been riddled with injuries.

Ajayi played in only four games before his season ended with a torn ACL. Sproles hasn’t played since the season-opener due to a hamstring injury. Clement has only played sparingly in six games due to a quad injury. Added into the mix due to all the injuries was Wendell Smallwood.

Smallwood has been the Eagles most productive runner this season, leading the team with 257 rushing yards. However, he still hasn’t been able to fill the void left by the injured regulars.

The Eagles currently rank 20th in the NFL in rushing yards per game at 106.6. That is more than a 25 yard per game decrease from when they finished 3rd in the NFL last season with 132.2 yards/game. They’ll need to get the ground game going to make a run at the playoffs this season.
