Special Teams: B-

Kicker Jake Elliott has been good, but not great for this Eagles team. On field goals, he currently ranks 27th in conversion rate at just 75 percent, making 12 of his 16 attempts this year. On the other hand, he is one of 15 kickers who are perfect on extra points this year, going 18 for 18.

On the punting side of the ball first-year punter Cameron Johnston has actually led the NFL in punting average with 49.9 yards per punt. He’s been a nice replacement for the retired Donnie Jones.

When it comes to the return game, the Eagles have primarily used reserve wide receiver DeAndre Carter. Carter hasn’t had any return touchdowns or any huge returns of note. The Eagles are anxiously awaiting the return of Darren Sproles to give their return game a spark.

Coaching: C+

Head coach Doug Pederson has continued his ways as a risk-taker this season. He has attempted 10 fourth-down tries, and the Eagles have succeeded on seven of those plays. But his play-calling hasn’t been as great as it was last year.

This Eagles offense that he is in charge of has been average at best. They are only scoring 22.3 points per game, ranking them 21st in the NFL. It’s safe to say that he is missing both his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from last year: Frank Reich and John DeFillipo, respectively. Pederson needs to find ways to get his offense in the end zone more in order for him to be seen as one of the top play-callers in the NFL.

 Overall Team Grade: C

The Eagles are 4-4 on the season and look like an absolutely average team. So, their play on the field and their record on paper have them playing like a C team. Only time will tell if the season can be salvaged. They’ll definitely need an A performance the rest of the season to get back to the playoffs.
