The San Francisco 49ers eased to victory over the Oakland Raiders in Nick Mullens’ first start. Here, we look at three standouts from the Week 9 blowout win.

The San Francisco 49ers tasted victory for the first time since Week 2 on Thursday as they crushed the Oakland Raiders in an incredible first start for quarterback Nick Mullens.

Third-stringer Mullens, promoted to starter because of a wrist injury to Jimmy Garoppolo’s backup C.J. Beathard, eviscerated the Raiders dreadful defense to lead the Niners to a 34-3 triumph and end a six-game losing streak for San Francisco.

With the dust now settled on the one of the most unexpected storylines of the season, we look at at three standouts from the Niners most complete performance of the campaign.

Nick Mullens

The Raiders defense made it easy on Mullens as he went 16-of-22 for 262 yards and three touchdowns, but the maturity and composure he demonstrated in his first start was still extremely impressive.

In addition to making the simple throws, Mullens was able to manipulate defenders with his eyes and, on the rare occasions when he did face pressure, was able to combat it and make accurate off-platform throws.

Kyle Shanahan is in no rush to decide on his starter for the Week 10 clash with the New York Giants but, after such an assured display, it will be tough for him to send Mullens back to the bench.
