Wide Receivers

Maurice Harris at Tampa Bay

2018 Stats: 21 receptions, 226 yards
ESPN Ownership: 0.1 percent

Since Week 5, Maurice Harris has quietly been involved in the Redskins receiving rotation. Yet Harris found himself in a breakout game against the Falcons last week, amassing 10 catches for 124 yards. This comes after a myriad of Redskins pass-catchers are sidelined with various injuries, so Alex Smith has to throw to somebody, right? Perhaps the fantasy football powers above have chosen Harris as the waiver-wire savior.

Harris’ role is expected to continue, at least to Week 10 when the Redskins meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The long-term future for Harris is unknown, but with Paul Richardson out for the year and Chris Thompson/Jordan Reed/Jamison Crowder all potentially missing Week 10, the hype train for Harris officially can continue into what is expected to be another up-tempo affair.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling vs. Miami

2018 stats: 17 receptions, 358 yards, 2 TD
ESPN Ownership: 20.7 percent

Marquez Valdes-Scantling has quietly crawled up the Packers depth chart, and to be fair, it’s difficult to focus on other great talent within the receiving corps. Since week five, Valdes-Scantling has averaged over 14 fantasy points per contest despite tallying one game with over three catches to his name. Essentially, MVS has turned himself into Aaron Rodgers’ big play guy, which carries solid fantasy value on a week to week basis.

With news breaking of Geronimo Allison being out for nearly six weeks with a core injury, the room for Valdes-Scantling to grow remains prominent. Week ten offers MVS a home contest with Miami. While Davante Adams and Randall Cobb will draw most of the attention from Miami’s better defensive backs, Valdes-Scantling should again find opportunity to make splash plays. With the ball in Rodgers’ hand, anything is possible, including a fifth straight week of double-digit production from your latest waiver addition.
