5. David Edwards, OT, Wisconsin

Let’s be honest — the Vikings still need help along the offensive line. Kirk Cousins has held his own this season, but it’s been in spite of a woeful front five that routinely has him running for his life or taking unnecessary hits.

Even after a few decent additions over the last two offseasons, the Vikings need more help in the blocking department. One option worth considering is David Edwards, the Wisconsin Badgers’ outstanding, versatile offensive lineman. Capable of playing both guard and offensive tackle, Edwards would be an intriguing asset for Minnesota.

What really intrigues me about Edwards is his ability to step in and start right away. A seasoned veteran along an outstanding Wisconsin line, he has the experience and well-rounded skill set to see significant snaps as a rookie.

Edwards is a balanced blocker who shines whether he’s paving lanes in the ground game or keeping opposing rushers out of the backfield. His energy and high motor help him stand out, get to the second level and make impact blocks that turn nice plays into huge gains. The Vikings need more of that up front, which is why targeting the Badger on Day 1 seems sensible.
